About Net Worth Live

Net Worth Live illustrates how a starting amount, regular savings and a return assumption can affect calculated net worth over time.

What you can explore

Choose your starting net worth, monthly contribution and assumed annual return. Change the numeric inputs or sliders to explore the results. The English calculator also lets you label the whole scenario as EUR, USD, GBP, CAD, AUD or NZD; EUR is the default. The Spanish calculator offers EUR, MXN, USD, COP, ARS, PEN or CLP, with a separate remembered selection. The Brazilian Portuguese calculator offers BRL, EUR or USD, with BRL as the default and its own remembered selection. Changing currency relabels every amount without conversion, exchange rates or a separate portfolio, so all stored numeric values and history stay the same. The Turkish calculator always uses TRY and displays ₺ without a currency selector or preference. Switching from EN, ES or PT to Turkish keeps the same numeric data, timeline and shared interface preferences without conversion; returning to EN restores its saved currency. Turkish does not read, write or delete EN, ES or PT currency preferences. The Hungarian calculator always uses HUF and displays Ft without a currency selector or preference. Switching from EN, ES or PT to Hungarian preserves the same numbers, timeline and shared interface preferences without conversion; returning to EN restores its saved currency. Hungarian does not read, write or delete EN, ES or PT currency preferences. The Greek calculator always uses EUR and displays € without a currency selector or preference. Switching from EN, ES or PT to Greek preserves the same numeric values, timeline and shared interface preferences without conversion; returning to EN restores its saved currency. Greek does not read, write or delete EN, ES or PT currency preferences. The Bulgarian calculator always uses EUR and displays € without a currency selector or preference. Switching from EN, ES or PT to Bulgarian preserves the same numbers, timeline and shared interface preferences without conversion; returning to EN restores its saved currency. Bulgarian does not read, write or delete EN, ES or PT currency preferences. The Slovak calculator always uses EUR and displays € without a currency selector or preference. Switching from EN, ES or PT to Slovak preserves the same numbers, timeline and shared interface preferences without conversion; returning to EN restores its saved currency. Slovak does not read, write or delete EN, ES or PT currency preferences. The Croatian calculator always uses EUR and displays €, without a currency selector or preference. Switching from EN, ES or PT to Croatian keeps the same numeric values, timeline and shared interface preferences without conversion; returning to EN restores its saved currency. Croatian does not read, write or delete EN, ES or PT currency preferences.

The Finnish, German, Italian, French and Dutch calculators always use euros and have no currency selector or currency preference. The Polish calculator always uses PLN and has no currency selector. The Swedish calculator always uses SEK, the Norwegian calculator always uses NOK and the Danish calculator always uses DKK without a currency selector or currency preference. Changing language does not convert numeric amounts or use exchange rates. Switching from English, Spanish or Brazilian Portuguese to the euro-only versions interprets the same saved numbers as euros; switching to Polish interprets them as PLN and switching to Swedish interprets them as SEK and switching to Norwegian interprets them as NOK and switching to Danish interprets them as DKK without conversion; returning restores that language’s remembered currency. The tracker shows calculated net worth now, growth during the current period and today, the current growth rate, and future projections. Growth includes both the modelled return and your contributions. The Romanian calculator always uses RON without a currency selector or preference. Switching from English, Spanish or Brazilian Portuguese to Romanian keeps the same numeric values and timeline without conversion; returning restores each language’s saved currency choice. The Czech calculator always uses CZK and displays Kč, without a currency selector or preference. Switching from EN, ES or PT to Czech keeps the same numeric values and timeline without conversion; returning to EN restores its saved currency. Czech shares the common interface preferences and does not read, write or delete EN, ES or PT currency preferences.

What “live” means

The calculated model always includes actual elapsed time under your chosen assumptions, including while the page is closed. Smooth refreshes the displayed numbers about every 100 ms and Calm about every 1,000 ms. Paused freezes display time without stopping the calculation clock: inputs remain editable and their effects appear in the frozen view, while the real calculation history and event timestamps continue. Changing currency while Paused relabels frozen amounts without moving display time. Returning to Smooth or Calm catches up immediately to the actual current value. A reload, language change, reset, new tracking starting point or accepted external state creates a new current frozen view.

The Return, Contributions and Total rows show the selected monetary unit per minute with three decimal places. The number is a calculated scenario, not a bank balance or the live market value of investments, and your device clock affects the result.

Return and saving methodology

The calculator uses compound growth: the annual return assumption is applied as a constant growth factor over time, including fractions of a year. For example, with no contributions, a 7% assumption turns €100 into €107 over one model year. This illustrates the formula, not a promised or guaranteed market return.

The monthly contribution is treated as a continuous, steady saving rate: twelve times the monthly amount over a model year. Contributions enter the model gradually and receive the same assumed return for the time they are included. The model does not simulate separate monthly deposits or their actual payment dates.

Your calculation period

Tracking starts automatically on your first visit and resumes from local storage. Accepted changes to the starting amount, return or contribution are recorded as assumption history; growth before those changes is retained.

Editing the starting amount previews all live calculations immediately. Leaving the field or pressing Enter accepts a valid value. The amount adjustment is not counted as growth. Set a new starting point resets Growth since start while preserving Today and history.

Projections and your custom horizon

Projections show what would happen from the current calculated value if the current return and contributions continued. A valid starting-amount draft is included in the current live calculation. They do not predict later changes to your assumptions.

Alongside the fixed 1, 5, 10, 20 and 30 year projections, the exact Custom horizon field accepts 0.01–100 model years with up to two decimal places; its convenience slider selects whole years from 1 to 50. The default is 40 years. They change that projection only, not the elapsed calculation period or how contributions are modelled.

Future projections are scenarios, not forecasts, promises of returns, investment recommendations or guarantees of future wealth. Small changes in assumptions can produce large differences over a long horizon.

Limitations and interpreting the results

Actual investment returns vary. The model uses a smooth return assumption and does not simulate market volatility or the risks of individual investments. It does not include taxes, investment fees, inflation or currency conversion, so displayed amounts are not inflation-adjusted purchasing power.

There are no scheduled withdrawals or other cash flows beyond the steady contribution. Actual deposit dates are not modelled. Displayed amounts are rounded for readability; extreme assumptions can exceed the display limit. This is a scenario tool, not an accounting record.

Not personal financial advice

Use the results to compare assumptions and understand the model. The service does not provide personal investment advice, tax advice or other financial advice, and does not recommend investments. Decisions should take your circumstances and risks into account rather than relying on a projection alone.
